The Kremlin Turns Ideological: Where This New Direction Could Lead

Abstract

Vladimir Putin’s return to the presidency has brought to the fore the soul-searching questions that his regime had theretofore sought to avoid: what is Russia’s post-communist identity; what are the origins of its new statehood, or the core values that hold the nation together; what is the desired direction of Russia’s post-Soviet development?
