Abstract

I am Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, born in 1972 in Chiana, a village in the Upper East Region of Ghana. This village is approximately 36 miles away from the regional capital Bolgatanga and at the time only enjoyed the presence of a small health post, miles away from my family house, compelling my mother to deliver at home with the help of a traditional birth attendant and my very experienced great grandmother Tutu who died at 112 years.
