Language Planning: Testing the Models

Abstract

In the preceding chapter, a number of different planning processes were discussed, using relatively small-scale examples to illustrate them. This chapter will test the models suggested, as well as redressing the balance towards status and acquisition planning. It should be noted from the outset, however, that, although corpus planning and status and acquisition planning have been discussed in separate sections, the application of one cannot proceed without the others. This is particularly the case with corpus planning which, as we will see, can never work without there being status and acquisition planning in support of it.
