Executive rebellion unleashes a dynamic of protest to which the company must respond, whether the decision it ultimately arrives at is right or wrong. Rebellion, in fact, gives the company an opportunity to implement new management principles that it had previously been unable or unwilling to adopt. Rejecting current work rules and the decisions based on those rules can even liberate the company from the latest fads that consultants spend their days dreaming up and selling as quickly as possible before everyone else is aware of their game.
