Abstract

Theareais 112,600 sq. km, and the population, in 1974, 3m. The seat of government is Porto Novo (100,000 inhabitants); the chief port and business centre is Cotonou (175,000); other important towns are Abomey, Ouidah and Parakou. There are 6 administrative districts: Atakora, Borgou, Zou, Ouémé, Atlantique and Mono.
