Mulai-Abd-el-Hafid, son of Mulai-Hassan; revolted against his brother, Sultan Mulai-Abd-el-Aziz, and was proclaimed Sultan at Marakesh on August 25, 1907, at Fez on January 4, 1908, and at Tangier, August 23, 1908. He was recognised by the Powers as Sultan on January 5, 1909, upon his undertaking to recognise the Act of Algeciras and to abide by the engagements entered into by Mulai-Abd-el-Aziz and his predecessors.
