Abstract

Haakon VII., born August 3, 1872; the second son, Carl, of Frederik, Crown Prince (now King) of Denmark, elected King of Norway by the Storthing, November 18, 1905; accepted the crown through his grandfather, the late King Christian of Denmark, November 20, 1906; landed in Norway November 25, 1905; married, July 22, 1896, to Princess Maud, born November 26, 1866, the third daughter of Edward VII., King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
