The Demise of the Deans of Men and the Rise of the Deans of Students

Abstract
Among the changes experienced by the NADAM entering the 1940s was a surge in membership, beginning with a record-setting registration for the twentieth anniversary conference held in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1938, as 164 members and guests attended. Repeating his role from 1919, Scott Goodnight of Wisconsin was the host for the celebration. Attendance was again over 100 in 1941, when the conference was held in Cincinnati, and in 1949, a record turnout of 217 people attended the conference in Highland Park, Illinois.
