Promoting Social Inclusion, Equity and Well-Being for Young People with Autism Spectrum Condition: A Community Music Facilitator (and Parent) Perspective

Abstract

In a service provision arena dominated by clinical providers and supported employment programs, Whelan proposes a strength-based creative arts model for post-school transition. In the context of a commonwealth citizenship agenda of ‘equality and opportunity for all’, Whelan reflects on his experience devising and delivering a digital-arts program to fill the void encountered by young people on the autism spectrum as they transition from school to the commencement of their adult lives.
