Abstract
On 5 June 1967 Israeli forces launched simultaneous air and ground attacks on Jordan, the UAR and Syria. By 11 June, when the United Nations’ appeal for a cease-fire was generally accepted, the Israelis had occupied the Gaza strip and the Sinai peninsula as far as the Suez Canal in the UAR, West Jordan as far as the Jordan valley, and the heights east of the Sea of Galilee including the town of Quneitra in Syria.
