Abstract
Iraq was freed from the Turks during the Great War. It was recognised as an independent State, to be placed under a Mandatory Power, and the mandate was allotted to Great Britain. On December 14, 1927, a treaty was signed between Great Britain and Iraq, by which the former undertook to recognise the latter as an independent State. This treaty has not yet been ratified. Great Britain is to recommend Iraq for admission to the League of Nations in 1982.
