Abstract

The authors mentioned certain attributes and skills required by detectives. Roycroft drew up a “Full decision model” in Chapter 3 and the respective authors have added to this model by helping to define the decision making process used by effective investigators. We can now determine the “perfect SIO and decision maker”. The perfect SIO needs good reasoning skills mixed with intuitive and analytical skills. The authors mentioned the need for good managerial skills and the need to manage the different phases of an investigation. The characteristics of a good decision maker are listed at the end of the chapter.
