Abstract
This review highlights the major advances over the last 5 years in the templated synthesis of carbon-based macrocycles. With selected examples, it focuses on the literature describing several developing areas of research including dynamic combinatorial libraries/dynamic covalent chemistry, and the extrapolation of templated macrocyclic synthesis to topologically complex structures.
