Low-energy electron diffraction for surface structure analysis

Abstract

Recent progress in the theory of low-energy electron diffraction is reviewed. It is shown, to what extent the theory can already extract information about the structure of solid surfaces out of the experimental results. The kinematic, the multiple-scattering and the data-averaging approach are discussed.
