Abstract

Illustration is given with a few examples of the methodology recently proposed by John Ross to handle in a thermodynamically sound approach systems and (nonlinear) processes far away from equilibrium. Ross’ theory builds on excess work and excess dissipation conceptes very much in the spirit of Carnot and Gibbs.
