Abstract
The purpose of this chapter is to give the technical material which will be used in the following chapters. In the first section we shall see that there is no possibility of obtaining Puiseux expansion in positive characteristic. The Hamburger-Noether expansions, which will replace the Puiseux ones, are developed in the remaining sections.
