Abstract

In this paper Cray T3D and Connection Machine CM-5 performances are compared on actual applications, largely adopted in several scientific domains. The experimental tests are performed following both the available programming models. A complete message passing application and three kernels of data parallel problems are implemented, trying to gain a better insigth both into the overall machine performances, and into the separate on node and network communication efficiencies.
