Abstract

The final period of turbulent temporal decay is synthesized from structural elements for velocity and scalar fields. Results for the turbulent intensity are compiled for spherically symmetric, axially symmetric, planar and homogeneous configurations. Some kinematic results in the far field are applicable to the irrotational flow regime of high Reynolds number turbulence.
