Abstract

A signal for conveying information which is a continuous function of time is known as analog signal (Figure 12-1). A digital signal is a signal that represents data as a sequence of binary values (Figure 12-2). In each instant of time, a digital signal can take only one of the two values. The allowed two values are called high and low or 1 and 0. A digital system is a system that works with digital signals.
