Abstract
As a part of e-sports, first-person shooter (FPS) games are extremely competitive and playable, and many players devote their time and energy to them. Within these intense gaming scenarios, players must maintain composure and exhibit precise control over their mouse or controller. However, not all players possess the ability to regulate their emotions effectively. It is all too common for players to succumb to overwhelming stress during a game, resulting in costly errors and ultimately, defeat. Therefore, it becomes imperative to discover methods for training players to manage their emotions and maintain a state of calm while engaged in FPS games. In this study, we propose a new training approach: using heart rate analysis to gauge a player’s stress levels during gameplay and employing it as a parameter to help them adjust their emotions and remain composed. To evaluate the viability of this method, a series of experiments and evaluations were conducted. The experimental results provide evidence to support the notion that training with heart rate can effectively assist players in stress control during a custom FPS game.
