Abstract

Many authors refer to the phenomenon of male genital self-mutilation as “Klingsor Syndrome” or “Eshmum Complex.” The first eponym comes from a fictitious character in the Wagner’s opera “Parsifal” where Klingsor was a magician who castrated himself in an unsuccessful attempt to gain acceptance from the Knights of the Grail [1]. The second one comes from the legendary beautiful young man mentioned above in the Phoenician mythology (see Chap. 49).
