Abstract
This chapter delves into the decentralization of power from urban concentration to affluent regions. It raises the question of where the market lies and highlights the phenomenon of wealth being drained from the regions. The chapter showcases the potential of affluent regions as a treasure trove of renewable energy resources. It encourages the idea of buying hometown electricity, allowing individuals to support and benefit from local power generation. Readers are introduced to the concept of leveraging their investment in the energy sector, empowering individuals to contribute to regional prosperity through the Rural Enterprise Model. The pivotal role of regional banks and the utilization of the PFI scheme are also discussed in driving regional development. Ultimately, the chapter emphasizes how regional prosperity enriches the entire nation and explores the evolving power company business model in this decentralized energy landscape.
