Abstract

Stress is an important concept in soil mechanics. A structure will have stresses in various parts of the material (points, elements) under load. The stresses in different parts are often different. And for the same element, the stresses vary from section to section. The analysis of stresses in the element and their relation to the strength of the soil is a fundamental problem in soil mechanics and an important problem in engineering.
