Abstract

Directional drilling, since its formal initiation, has always been a demanded approach for reaching remote subsurface crude accumulations. It has widened the approach of drillers and brought profit to the owners. Nevertheless, on a practical note, the design and development cost of a directional well is reasonably high, and hence every step must be tested before implementation. So, by designing an application, we basically sought to get an overview of the design, structure, angle change, and curvature change in two- and three-dimensional views, along with some calculated parameters like tangent section length, maximum build-up angle, well profile, etc. The objective of developing the directional drilling well profile design app using Python is to integrate the intelligence of the computer processing units with drilling concepts and create a smooth walkthrough for the drillers to visualize the well pattern, its structural irregularities, and whether the approach of using a specific build-up rate or drop-down rate is on point with the well design.
