Abstract

M block in the Orinoco heavy oil belt is super heavy oil reservoir. While reservoir are produced under the formation, main characteristic is the formation of foamy oil flow during the development process. In the M block, there are serious water production in the high part of the horizontal wells. Based on the analysis of logging response characteristics of the horizontal wells and the production data and water analysis from water production wells, integrating with the regional structural models and the characteristics of the foamy oil reservoirs, three reasons for water production in the area are summarized: bottom water coning, channeling behind casing and other cases. The source and distribution area of produced water are analyzed in combination with the characteristics of foamy oil, it points out that the channeling behind casing is injurious to the reservoir, which effectively guides the production in M block.
