Abstract

Martorell ulcer also called hypertensive ischaemic leg ulcer (HYTILU), or Necrotic angiodermatitis, represents a frequently underdiagnosed entity of lower limb extremely painful and progressive ulcers. The most common presentation is in uncontrolled hypertensive women aged 50–60 years with pain out of proportion to the ulcer size on the dorsolateral lower one-third of the legs. This chapter will focus on the early recognition, accurate diagnosis and timely management of this debilitating condition.
