Abstract
Nanotechnology has brought a revolution in science (Feynman, Eng Sci 23:22–36, 1960). Particularly, the rapid development of nanotechnology produced many kinds of nanomaterials, which have a wide range of applications in biological, medical, and bioengineering fields. Owing to their unique properties, nanomaterials have novel physical and chemical characteristics, and they show different properties from conventional materials in many aspects. Thus, more widespread exposure would be to human beings and environments with uncertainty over their potential risks of them (Oberdörster, J Intern Med 267:89–105, 2009; Oberdörster et al., Inhal Toxicol 16:437–445, 2004; Oberdörster et al., Casarett and Doull’s toxicology, McGraw-Hill Education, New York, 1189–1229, 2013).
In this chapter, it will be first compared to that of classical physics. Then, it will see the health risk assessment.
