Abstract
A 64-year-old female was referred to our General Surgery clinic with a posterior scalp lump. She had presented to her GP, with a lump in her occipital area of about 3 cm in diameter, which was gradually increasing in size. Due to the unclear etiology, a CT scan was performed (Fig. 1a). This scan showed a large soft tissue mass lesion eroding through the left occipital bone. As it was suspected that this lesion was a metastasis, a CT scan of the chest and abdomen was subsequently performed (Fig. 1b). This showed bilateral thyroid nodules with a dominant solid-cystic nodule occupying most of the left lobe causing mild mass effect and narrowing of the trachea.
