Abstract

Cancer of the anal region is relatively rare in gastrointestinal tract malignancy. However, the worldwide incidence of anal cancer has increased [1, 2]. Because current guidelines do not recommend surgical treatment as a first therapeutic option, the staging of anal cancer is based on clinical staging by physical examination and radiological imaging. In this chapter, we will discuss the diagnostic workup, staging, and prognosis of anal cancer.
