Abstract

In this chapter, we explain that due to the advancement of information and communication technology and the rapid changes in society, several important learning trends have emerged. For the literacy education of learners, many new literacy terms have emerged, such as “media literacy,” “new literacy,” “multiliteracy,” “metaliteracy,” and “media and information literacy.” New trends in learning concepts and new literacy terms have had a great impact on traditional information literacy education, so information literacy education in the United States has undergone significant changes in both philosophical and practical terms, such as the revision of “The Information Literacy Framework” by ACRL. These changes are important trends for Asian countries to understand in information literacy education.
