Fault Line Selecting Method in Distribution System Based on Two Points Grounding of the Same Phase

Abstract

When one point single-phase grounding happened in no-solidly earthed network, steady zero-sequence current of lines inflow grounding point and flow bus. If the second point grounding of the same phase and different lines happened, steady zero-sequence current of lines is separated between two ground points. By comparing variation characteristics of steady zero-sequence current, fault line is identified. This method can be applied to small current systems in the ungrounded neutral point network and the grounded neutral point network via the arc suppression coil, and is not affected by arc suppression coil compensation degree. Because steady zero-sequence current is only used, no additional high-frequency data acquisition device is required, and design is simple. Visual display is supported in D5000 system, in order to line selection by dispatcher. This method has been applied and popularized in several substations, with accurate line selection and high reliability.
