Abstract
This chapter explains in detail, the role of nitric oxide pathway and its players, in health and disease. These players may be endogenous (activators or inhibitors) or exogenous (donors or inhibitors) in nature. Nitric oxide donors are clinically important since they have a major share to play in the management of several pathophysiological disorders. The chapter also throws light on the various vasoactive peptides that may be vasoconstrictors or vasodilators (or sometimes, mixed). Finally, the chapter also explains the role of purines in the management of various microbial disorders and cancers.
