Abstract
Reactive arthritis (ReA) is an infection-induced inflammatory joint disease occurring in a genetically predisposed individual. The arthritis is a sterile (aseptic), asymmetric oligoarthritis, predominantly affecting the lower limb joints. ReA may be self-limited or pursue a relapsing course. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are used as the first-line treatment with disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs reserved for those with persistent protracted arthritis. The role of antibiotics is limited.
