Abstract

Ultrasonography is used for diagnostic and theraputic procedures in real time. This is not limited anymore to just producing images of internal organs on screen. Recent innovations include high resolution ultrasounds, molecularly targeted contrast agents, microbubble enhanced ultrasounds, HIFU (high intensity focussed ultrasounds) to name a few. Increasing number of clinicians are incorporating ultrasound examinations in daily practise providing value for PoCUS (point of care ultrasound). As reduced cost and advancement of artifical intelligence (AI) comes of age, these devices will become essential for clinicians and radiologists alike.
