Abstract
The FORTRON program developed for mathematical modeling was run considering the input values like influent substrate concentration (S0), hydraulic retention time (θ), specific surface area (a), attached biomass density (Xf) and relevant kinetic coefficients as well as biofilm specific parameters like half-velocity constant (K), maximum specific rate of substrate utilization (k), biomass yield coefficient (Y), biomass loss rate due to shear from biofilm (bs), biomass decay rate (bd), total biomass loss rate (bt), molecular diffusivity in biofilm (Df) and thickness of liquid layer in biofilm (L). The program was run for predicting the exiting substrate (COD) concentration, which is the key output parameter for performance evaluation of the reactor.
