Abstract

In this final chapter, we carry out an analysis of the scholarly works of contributors who, as experts from different disciplines, have written about various cities and interrogated the housing sector from diverse perspectives. We show how the chapters in this volume have attempted to explore Africa’s housing challenge from the dimensions of governance, finance, urban management, urban health and community development. We also highlight the policy recommendations and strategic approaches to addressing these challenges that have been made in preceeding chapters. From all these, we draw out seven broad themes that has emerged as critical if the housing sector is to catalyze a sustainable urban future for Africa. We then present future research directions required to expand the frontiers of knowledge that have been presented in this book.
