Abstract
Knowledge required for teaching science and how this knowledge develops continues to be a focus of research in science education. In recent times, science curricula internationally aim for students to do science, learn science, understand how science works and develop scientifically literate citizens able to make informed decisions about socio-scientific issues that are likely to impact on people and societies.
