Abstract

Land is an essential resource for human, which offers places for living, food production and bulk of other activities of human, and its ways of use and management are of paramount importance for welfare, wealth, security and sustainability for human. However, despite substantial research and management on land, particularly on its use, rapid population increase, economic development, globalisation, etc. are creating various challenges in land and its use. Land degradation and other land-related problems are seen in many parts of the world, particularly in developing countries and regions. This chapter reviews studies and management practices useful for understanding and elaborating them, and explores the proper ways for using and managing land resources.
