Abstract
With the development of low-power-wide-area technology, the emerging Narrow-Band Internet of Things (NB-IoT) technology is becoming popular with wide-area and low-data-rate services. This chapter introduces the background to NB-IoT and summarizes the relevant features of NB-IoT uplink, downlink and narrowband physical random access channel. In addition, we will construct an NB-IoT model based on a long-term evolution network using OPNET, and design a random access with differentiated barring algorithm.
