Report on the Development of Cultural Industries in China's Special Economic Zones

Abstract

In 2018, the Communist Party of China and the government successively introduced a series of related policies to lead the correct direction of the development of domestic cultural industries. The development of cultural industries across the country maintained a steady growth trend. With the continuous advancement of the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Pan-Pearl River Delta region has ushered in a golden period of development. The special economic zones actively cooperate with national policy plans and have achieved a series of development results based on their own advantages to deploying cultural industries. From the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” to the “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan”, the cultural industries in the special economic zones have entered a stage of high-quality development, and the digital cultural industry is still gaining momentum. The integrated development of culture and tourism has become a new highlight for promoting economic growth and upgrading the structure of consumption. Faced with huge market opportunities and challenges, the special economic zones can promote further development of the cultural industries in four aspects, including deepening the reform of the cultural system, developing cultural and tourist industries with regional characteristics, vigorously promoting the development of the digital cultural industry, and improving the protection of intellectual property rights.
