Abstract

Oral rehabilitation using dental implants is a widely accepted treatment with excellent success rates. In the absence of proper bone, one solution would be fabrication of custom-made implants which are perfectly adapted to the morphology and anatomy of edentulous sites. In this book chapter, we are going to discuss the history and nature of customized implants, different approaches for their manufacturing, mechanical properties, surgical technique, potential complications, and some potentials for the future of customized dental implants.
