Abstract
Service robots work in a wide range of scenarios, and the home environment is just one of them. Service robots working in public face more complex and unfamiliar environments than at home. Robots should be able to respond to commands from strangers and adapt quickly to unfamiliar environments, which requires robots to be able to build maps and complete navigation tasks in unfamiliar environments on-the-fly, with more diverse means of interaction, such as gesture recognition and more sophisticated voice recognition.
