Abstract
This chapter revisits key concepts and arguments of the book and offers provocations for future work in this field. The notion of the cyborg assemblage is advanced as a means of naming, analysing, and discussing the interweaving of digital and material resources and text production technologies in literacy assemblages. It is argued that literacy heritages are woven from many threads, and that multiple perspectives are needed to provide the interpretive resources needed to appreciate their complexity. Presentist practices (Hunt, 2002) that limit our ability to trace, locate, and understand these heritages are challenged.
