Abstract
This brings us to a debatable topic of double parathyroid adenoma. Do double parathyroid adenomas actually exist, or is it a condition on an evolving timeline in the presentation of the parathyroid disease? This has been a point of controversy as to whether these represent undiagnosed glandular disease in other parathyroids, as these eventually return with persistent or recurrent hyperparathyroidism associated with the remaining glands, on long-term follow-up. Hence, strict diagnostic criteria have been defined for the diagnosis of double parathyroid adenomas:
