Abstract

As a background chapter, this chapter focuses on the book’s central discussion point and structure. It provides a detailed understanding of city cluster development and explores China’s city cluster development plan. We introduce all the current 19 city clusters in China and give information on the ones that are picked as case studies for the book. The nexus between sustainable development and carbon neutrality is highlighted, particularly in the context of city cluster development. Lastly, the chapter provides structure and summary of case study chapters (Chapters 3 to 13).
