Abstract

As a new approach to landscape expression and spatial reasoning, landscape pattern language needs further researches and discussion to its theory, method, and application in landscape planning and design in the future. The theoretical system of landscape pattern language is mainly constructed by spatial vocabulary, morphology, and syntax in response to the insufficient research on design language, adaptive approaches, and quadrant of practice. This work just opened a window to planner and designer to foster their personal design language with limitations, problems, and challenges. What kind of landscape will be adaptive to the intelligent word? What kind of pattern language will be effective to express landscape meanings? The innovations, application, and verification of landscape pattern language should be researched, acted, and implemented in the future to perfect landscape pattern language theory and methodology.
