Abstract
Obstructed labour is defined as the failure of the foetus to descend through the birth canal in spite of good uterine contractions. It is an important indicator of a nation’s maternal and child health care facilities as it is a preventable obstetric complication. The incidence of obstructed labour has become negligible in developed countries and institutionalisation of delivery, but it is still high in underprivileged parts of the world.
