Abstract
Currently, more than 1300 strains of genetically modified mice have been developed to better understand signaling pathways and immunobiology. In the field of transplantation, utilization of these strains is not sufficient to achieve the goal of advance of transplant biology, but a prerequisite for a success. Implementation of various mouse transplant models is additionally required during the past decades, which offers a valuable platform to unveil the complexity of the immune system and clinically relevant transplant issues on the basis of a high degree of similarity between human leukocyte antigen (HLA) and mouse H-2 MHC complex (Erickson, Bioessays 18:993–998, 1996).
