Evolution of Digitized Societies Through Advanced Technologies

Abstract

Social entrepreneurship is gradually developing as a significant theme of research. As social entrepreneurs prioritize the advancement and growth of social and economic values, it is seen as a noble kind of entrepreneurial practice by many but misjudged by a large section of the population as otherwise. This chapter presents our study with a literature review on numerous disciplines of social entrepreneurship and its several dimensions using a qualitative multiple case study approach. Innumerable challenges revealing the difficulties of social entrepreneurship have been emphasized through cases. Some for-profit social ventures have been precisely integrated as part of the study to simplify the social complications and the approach social entrepreneurs follow to resolve them. Most social ventures and entrepreneurs face the problem of their inability to link with the social problem, which is the gap for which the explanation is the social venture itself. In numerous cases, it has been understood that social enterprises fail to fill up the gap of a de facto opportunity in a socially acceptable and profitable manner. This chapter intends to briefly discuss the notion of social entrepreneurship by describing its different perceptions and its various dimensions.
