Abstract
In this study, three different structural engineering benchmark design problems were optimized using the Jaya algorithm, one of the metaheuristic algorithms. The optimization process was repeated many times for different iteration numbers, and the results were evaluated. Thus, the accuracy of the optimum result reached by the algorithm has been checked. It is found that Jaya algorithm is a robust one if the required number of iterations is done, but it must be noted that several failures can be also observed in several runs when the maximum iteration number is low although the problems are small in numbers of design variables.
